Routine wellness check turned up something I had not noticed since, well, I really don't know when. A large number of paint colors were missing. All but three have been logged and had graphs generated for a long time. Possibly as long as this site has been up; I'd have to check. Lemon inexplicably has only about a month's worth of data. I'm befuddled as to how that's even possible. Lavender, purple, and yellow are absent from the graphs. Will have to run the script to add them to the logging and graphing queue. They should have data logged as long as they've been on the Yoweb tax pages. Will dig into the database when I have some time and get them as fixed as I can.

My host migrated my account to new hardware, and in so doing broke a lot of things. Par for the course... Anyway, I just got the tax scraping and graph re-drawing scripts fixed. I'll hopefully have the webpage fixed within a day or so. It's late, and I won't have the faintest idea of why it's broken until I get a few minutes to look at it. Going to spend a bit re-writing some of the scripts to make it easier to cope with unexpected version changes as well, but first I must sleep.

Almost a year later, I have yet to figure out what my host screwed up, hence the occasional blank spots in the graphs. Thanks to a email alerting me to the new commodity, kraken's ink, it's been added to the site. Lifeboats do not appear on the tax data pages, so they do not appear here. I still update the site when things change, but as I no longer play Puzzle Pirates I rely on people who use this site to let me know of changes to the game environment. On a side note, I noticed that the Crimson tax data has not zeroed out. Mayhaps the devs still use it internally for something?

As I don't regularly monitor the site, and did not have administrative email forwarding set up correctly (doh!), I was not aware that the scraper stopped working several months ago. Things are partially working, but due to unannounced changes by my host several things were broken which I have yet to completely fix. The cron updates continue failing to complete successfully, though manual updates work just fine. Hopefully I will get the problem sorted in the near future so that rates are shown at the correct intervals. I apologize for the inconvenience to anyone relying on the site for financial information.

Added support for the newly-merged oceans Cerulean, Emerald, and Meridian.

I'm otherwise retired from YPP, and have been for a long time. However, I still get updates of what's going on and intend to leave this site up indefinitely. The Crimson updates are now frozen, following that ocean's decommissioning.

I haven't paid much attention to the issue of the missing tax rates for the previously-listed enamels in a while. Whilst perusing through recent numbers, it again struck me that there were no rates being published for them. After a quick in-game test, it appears that the numbers are being correctly reported: those enamels have a 0 tax rate applied to them. Sent of a quick note to Three Rings Support and got a fairly rapid response back from Bia saying that she'd forward the information on to be looked at and fixed by the appropriate people. Hopefully the issue will be straightened out shortly, and maybe they'll add the missing paints in the meantime. :)

Love those single character errors. Data collection for fine persimmon cloth has been fixed. Several oceans still show no tax rate for lemon, peach, and/or light blue enamels. I assume that's as a result of low adoption levels not providing enough data to the tax calculation routine that YPP uses. Prices should start displaying as soon as there is enough trade in those commodities.

August 1st, 2009

Data is being collected for Crimson and Jade, as well as the new persimmon commodities. I haven't had a chance to update the layouts, but changes should be coming soon to take into account the recent additions. If you're really impatient, the graphs are being generated using the same naming scheme as those currently posted, and can be accessed directly.

Apparently, the tax information page for Ice was stripped down to enamels and cloth sometime after 6pm on the 18th. The rest of the oceans have since followed suit. I do not currently know when the values for the rest of the commodities will be re-added to the page.

Tax data for new colors has been activated. Lemon, peach, and light blue commodities are now enabled.

Added menus for sorting. Menus aren't perfect yet, but given the varying implementations of CSS it seems to work pretty well. Drop me a line if you have issues, and please include browser type, version, and OS.
Worst case in testing was, as usual, IE6. If you are one of the few still using IE6, please upgrade your browser. Better yet, choose a more standards-compliant, fully-featured replacement: Opera or Firefox.

After a bit of a hiccup, tax data is now updating correctly again.

Basic framework without any bells and whistles, will provide sorting/comparison/whatnot when I have the time and energy.
Current implementation is about 3MB per page. Dial-up users have been warned.

The initial heavy lifting for this project was the Perl programming done by Drewhead.
